STUDENT CHAPTERS
There are a number of ASA Student Chapters that are geared towards student-type activities, such as technical talks, tours, professional development, resume building, and academic enrichment. The Chapters are a great opportunity for students to network, exchange information and ideas, and learn more about the world of acoustics on a local level.

Student Chapters are included under the Regional Chapter umbrella. The first Student Chapter at the University of Nebraska was approved at the 2004 Spring ASA Meeting in New York and many others have since followed suit. To get started at establishing your own chapter, or for more information, contact the Regional Chapters Co-chairs (Juan Arvelo; Juan.Arvelo@jhuapl.edu and Erica Ryherd; eryherd@hotmail.com) or visit the Regional Chapters website.

STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION
The Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics and the National Council of Acoustical Consultants sponsor a student design competition during each Spring meeting of the Society.

The purpose of this design competition is to encourage students enrolled in architecture, Architectural Engineering, and other University curriculums that involve building design and/or acoustics to express their knowledge of architectural acoustics and building noise control in the schematic design of portions of a building where acoustical considerations are of primary importance.
The submitted designs will be judged by a panel of professional architects and acoustical consultants. An award of $1,000 will be made to the submitter(s) of the design judged "firsthonors." Four awards of $500 each will be made to the submitters of four entries judged "commendation."

More information can be found through the main ASA website.

STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION
Many of the technical committees of the Society give awards for student papers presented in sessions organized by that particular TC.

Selection of the award winner will be based on the quality of the presented paper, considering both the content and its delivery. All students who wish to participate in the competition for these awards should indicate their intention at the bottom of the abstract submitted for the meeting. Winners are listed on the Awards & Reports page after they are announced.

The award information for each TC changes for each meeting, so be sure to check the main ASA website for more details.

GALLERY OF ACOUSTICS
The Gallery of Acoustics is sponsored by the Technical Committee on Signal Processing in Acoustics and is presented at every Spring/Summer meeting of the ASA.

Its purpose is to enhance ASA meetings by providing a setting for researchers to display their work to all meeting attendees in a forum emphasizing the diversity, interdisciplinary, and artistic nature of acoustics. The Gallery of Acoustics provides a means by which we can all share and appreciate the natural beauty, aesthetic, and artistic appeal of acoustic phenomena: This is a forum where science meets art. The Gallery will consist of a multimedia collection of images, videos, audio clips, and narrations, of images and/or sounds generated by acoustic processes or resulting from signal and image processing of acoustic data. Images and videos can consist of actual visualizations of acoustic processes, or of aesthetically and technically interesting images resulting from various signal and image processing techniques and data visualization. Audio clips and segments should also have aesthetic, artistic, and technical appeal.

Both students and professionals are welcome to submit entries to the Gallery. Though students are welcome to submit entries, this is NOT limited to students. More information on the next Gallery is available at http://acousticalsociety.org/meetings/future_meeting/seattle/seattle#2c

The meeting attendees will vote on the entries on the basis of aesthetic/artistic appeal, ability to convey and exchange information, and originality. A cash prize may be awarded to the winning entry.
