This section is specifically focused on funding sources for post-docs. Awards are summarized by a short description and links are provided for more information.

F. V. HUNT POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
The F. V. Hunt Postdoctoral Research Fellowship was established by the Society to carry out Professor Hunt's wish that his estate be used to further the science of, and education in acoustics. Fellows receive a stipend, provided jointly by the Hunt estate and a fund established by the Acoustical Society, to support their research on a topic in acoustics at an institution of their choice. One Fellowship is usually awarded each year. A notice giving qualifications and soliciting applications for the Fellowship is published in a spring issue of JASA, for the academic term beginning in the fall of the following year.

NAVY POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The Navy, through the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) , sponsors a Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at NRL and a number of Naval R&D centers and laboratories. The objective of this program is to encourage the involvement of creative, capable and highly trained scientists and engineers who have received a Ph.D. or equivalent within the prior seven years in research areas of interest and relevance to the Navy.
Descriptive materials and applications are available from, and completed applications must be returned to the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), the program administrator.

BIOMEDICAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE AWARDS
The Kirschstein NRSA for individual postdoctoral fellows offers basic and clinical scientists the opportunity to receive full-time postdoctoral research training in the biomedical and behavioral sciences within the NIDCD mission by providing support for up to three years of aggregate NRSA support. These fellowships are not intended for study leading to the M.D., D.O., D.D.S., or equivalent, health professional degrees, nor do they support residency training.
The applications are reviewed by the Scientific Review Branch of the NIDCD using a fast-track process that is completed in 4-5 months from submission to award of meritorious applications. Owing to this expedited process, applications must strictly conform to NIH and NIDCD guidelines and late materials cannot be accepted.
Eligibility and Requirements: An applicant must have received a Ph.D., M.D., D.O., D.D.S., or equivalent doctoral degree and have arranged for work with a particular sponsor affiliated with an appropriate institution providing adequate facilities and resources for the proposed training plan. Applicants must have U.S. citizenship, legal permanent residency or noncitizen national status in the United States. The major emphasis of the application must be the research training experience to be received and the scientific competence to be gained. Training can be pursued abroad if the foreign site provides opportunities that are not available in the United States.
Scope of Support: The total period of postdoctoral research training support under the NRSA authorization is limited to an aggregate of three years (including NRSA fellowships and traineeships). Kirschstein-NRSA awards provide stipends to predoctoral fellows as a subsistence allowance to help defray living expenses during the research training experience. In addition to stipend support, postdoctoral Kirschstein NRSAs provide partial support of health insurance, training-related expenses, and travel. Supplementation is allowed from nonfederal sources.
