Mentoring Program
Mentoring programs have been notably successful in helping to encourage the participation of younger members, women, and minorities in many large and small organizations. ASA's Committee on Women has established a mentoring program and is seeking individuals who wish to be mentored and those who wish to serve as mentors.
ASA's program is very informal and unstructured. Established members/mentors are assigned protégées based on the requests of the protégées, e.g., by technical specialty, experience, etc. The mentors then meet and call the protégées periodically, serve as good listeners, and support and advise their protégées in their endeavors to function more successfully in their work environments. Participants come from government, academia, industry, and consulting. Mentors also encourage their protégées to participate in ASA activities and help them network in the Society.
